People who are disabled and can’t work can get free money from the government. The program that gives money to the disabled is called Social Security Disability Insurance. If you qualify for SSDI, you can get monthly payments.
You can apply for SSDI in 3 main ways: in person at a Social Security office, by calling an office, by filling out a form online.
People who apply for SSDI will be asked for this information:
- Their Social Security Number.
- A way to get in touch with their doctor or the hospital that gives them care.
- Records that show they have a disability.
- Results from labs.
Social Security Disability Insurance has work requirements, too. To get benefits, you had to pay Social Security taxes. You had to have worked a certain amount of time, too.
